Congratulations to Michael Sassmann for Receiving the Outstanding New Preceptor Award
Michael Sassmann, local Physician Assistant (PA) with Dr. Leon Driss in Lakeside, received an award for “Outstanding New Preceptor” at St. Francis University in Loretto, PA, on April 19, 2018. This award was given to two PA’s who had mentored and precepted Saint Francis students over the course of their clinical year of PA school, and it was the preceptor’s first-year mentoring the students. During their clinical year, the students take part in nine rotations that are 5 weeks each including Family Practice, Surgery, Pediatrics, and Internal Medicine.
Michael was nominated by one of his students, Irene Grysiak, who spent her time in Lakeside in September of 2017. Irene nominated Michael because of his “devotion to his students and patients” and his “practical and systematic approach to medicine.”
